VIN Inti Nusa and the NTB Provincial Government Launch a Study on the Green Super Grid

Central Lombok — PT VIN Inti Nusa and the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Provincial Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the development of the Green Super Grid at the Pullman Mandalika Hotel in Central Lombok on Friday (October 9).

This collaboration marks the first step toward assessing the development of a green electricity interconnection system that supports the acceleration of the energy transition and the utilization of New and Renewable Energy (NRE) in the Nusa Tenggara region.

Through an initiative by PT VIN Inti Nusa, this concept is aimed at developing the East–West Green Super Grid corridor, which connects the power systems of Flores, Sumbawa, Lombok, and Bali. The infrastructure under consideration includes solar power plants (PLTS), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), onshore and undersea transmission lines, substations, and power control systems.

A preliminary conceptual study indicates the potential to develop up to 2.34 GW of solar power plants and 4,950 MWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS). This potential is expected to strengthen energy security, support carbon emission reductions, and open up opportunities for investment and green economic growth in the Nusa Tenggara region.

This MoU marks the start of the project’s initiation phase. During this phase, the parties will collect data and prepare a feasibility study covering technical, economic, legal, environmental, and land-use aspects, as well as alignment with central government policies and PT PLN (Persero)’s electricity plans.

As the project progresses, the study will consider optimizing existing power generation assets without premature shutdowns, while also evaluating opportunities for substitution or combining fossil-fuel-based power generation plans with renewable energy infrastructure.

This agreement covers six areas of collaboration, including the alignment of initial project concepts, the exchange of data for feasibility studies, synchronization with PLN’s Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL), and the identification of potential investors and strategic partners. The results of further assessments may serve as the basis for proposals to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).

This MoU serves as an initial framework for cooperation and does not yet entail any obligations regarding investment, financing, or physical construction. The construction phase can only be considered after all studies have been completed and approval and authorization have been obtained from the relevant authorities.

The signing of the MoU was also witnessed by NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, Bomba Group CEO Alvin Reynaldi Setiawan, PT VIN Inti Nusa President Director Wahyu Sofiadi, PT VIN Inti Nusa representative Sonny, Head of the NTB PMPTSP Office Irnadi Kusuma, Head of the NTB Provincial Transportation Office Ervan Anwar, and Head of the Government and Regional Autonomy Bureau of the NTB Provincial Secretariat Jamaluddin.
